Kudozi: Chores and Rewards

Getting started

Choose I’m a parent or carer to create a family. Follow the subscription and family setup steps shown, add at least one child, choose Shared Device or Separate Devices, set the value of Kudos, and create your first job or reward.

Using separate devices

The family organiser can invite one profile at a time from Family Settings. The invited person should open the private invitation on the device they will use and be signed in to iCloud. Each separate device stays connected to its assigned profile.

If Kudozi asks whether to join another family, choose Leave current family and join only when that device should move to the family in the new invitation. Choosing Not now keeps its current family connection.

If an invitation does not work, check that:

Keeping devices up to date

Kudozi uses each family’s private iCloud data to keep shared devices together. Changes normally refresh while Kudozi is open or when a device receives an iCloud update. Delivery to a suspended device is controlled by iOS, so it may not be instant.

If another adult cannot see a recent change, check that both devices are online, signed in to iCloud and connected to the same Kudozi family. Bring Kudozi to the foreground on the waiting device and allow it a moment to reconcile. A message saying Up to date on this device confirms that device’s latest operation; it does not mean every suspended family device has already acknowledged it.

Reviewing earlier and upcoming job days

Adults can use the arrows in Today’s jobs to move backwards or forwards through the schedule and filter by child. Submitted work from an earlier day can still be approved, including Approve all when several items are waiting. Planned jobs on earlier or upcoming days can be opened and edited when the underlying job is still available.

Stopping a recurring job prevents future occurrences. Work that was genuinely completed or missed before the series stopped remains part of the family’s history.

Planning days off

An adult can open Plan days off from the create menu or Family Settings, tap the dates when children should have no scheduled tasks, and save. Those dates do not break a child’s streak. Return to the calendar at any time to add or remove a day.

Privileges and passes

This optional family setting lets an adult write agreed privileges such as screen time, gaming or choosing the family film. Families can make them available after today’s expected jobs, issue passes for the following day, or use both timings.

Children mark their jobs as done and an adult approves the work in the usual way. Once every expected job has approval, Kudozi unlocks the privilege automatically; there is no separate pass-confirmation step. The child’s home brings together anything ready today and anything earned for tomorrow in one celebratory card. A pass appears on its intended day rather than creating a duplicate card beforehand.

Privileges and passes are family prompts only. Kudozi does not start a timer, lock another app or control a child’s device. An ordinary day with nothing planned does not manufacture a pass; a deliberately planned day off can still follow the family’s agreed privilege setting.

Progress, wins and achievements

The adult home shows weekly family momentum and each child’s progress. Progress and insights summarises planned jobs, completed jobs, bonus jobs completed and Kudos earned across seven days, four weeks, three months or all available history.

Charts keep planned days off visible and mark them as paused rather than missed. Children see their own Monday-to-Sunday tracker and open My Wins for privileges, streaks, achievements and milestones before the more detailed progress charts.

Evening reminders

An adult can choose a family reminder time. Each device must separately allow notifications. Kudozi sends a reminder only when required jobs remain; Bonus Jobs and jobs waiting for approval do not trigger it. To change permission, open iOS Settings, find Kudozi, and choose Notifications.

Kudos and money rewards

Kudos are an in-family score, not money or a digital currency. Adults can choose a family currency and value in Family Settings → Jobs & Rewards. Kudozi shows the equivalent only as a quick guide when choosing Kudos and rewards. Kudozi does not hold money or process payments; adults fulfil rewards themselves.

Trial and subscription

Eligible new customers can start with a 14-day full-feature trial, followed by £7.99 per year in the UK. Apple shows the price and renewal terms before the organiser confirms.

The adult organiser subscribes once for their Kudozi family. Invited family members join through the organiser’s private invitation and are not asked to buy another subscription.

Use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen if the organiser has already subscribed with that Apple Account. To manage or cancel the subscription, open iOS Settings, tap the Apple Account name, then choose Subscriptions → Kudozi. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the current subscription period.

Leaving, resetting or deleting Kudozi data

A participant can leave a shared family from Family Settings. The organiser can permanently end the shared family, removing its shared data from iCloud and disconnecting every invited device. Resetting local data removes the family from that device. These actions may be permanent, so read the confirmation shown in Kudozi carefully.

Kudozi Potty

Getting started

Choose Set up this family, add the adult and child details you want to use, then choose whether to enable reminders. If another adult already created the family, choose Wait for an invite and open their private invitation on the device you will use.

Recording a moment

Tap Log a moment, choose how it began and then record what happened. A single moment can include both a nappy or accident outcome and a toilet outcome when that reflects what happened. Wiping, flushing and hand washing are optional.

Patterns and daily context

Patterns describe the moments that were recorded. Each period shows the amount of data behind its percentages so a day with two records is not presented as directly equivalent to a day with nine. Use About today to add context such as illness, location or a change in routine.

Potty reminders

Each adult chooses reminders on their own iPhone. Routine reminders, one-off alerts after food or drink, quiet hours and nursery or childcare pauses can be changed in Family Settings → Reminders. iOS notification permission must also be enabled. Delivery may be affected by Focus modes, notification settings, battery management and device availability.

Sharing with another adult

The family organiser can invite another adult from Family Settings → Family → Adults and sharing. Both adults must be signed in to iCloud. The invited adult should open the private invitation on the device they will use. Each adult separately controls reminders on their own phone.

Leaving, resetting or deleting Potty data

An invited adult can leave a shared family. The organiser can end the shared family, which removes its shared CloudKit data and disconnects invited devices. A family that is not shared can be reset on the device. Read the confirmation carefully because these actions may be permanent.

Kudozi Potty provides general information, not medical advice. Speak with a health visitor, GP or paediatric professional if toileting is painful, constipation or blood is a concern, a child is distressed, or you are worried.
